HIDE CLEANER

Our cleaner is especially formulated for use on finished leathers and is similar to the professional cleaner used in our works. Diluted with five parts of water it is a very powerful and safe product for removing even ingrained dirt from the surface of the leather. For mild soiling it is only necessary to spray the cleaner on with a spray-mist bottle, wait a few seconds, then dip the foam block provided into warm water and gently scrub the soiled area. A foaming action ensues, which flushes up dirt from the grain of the leather, which can then be wiped away with a clean damp cloth. For really soiled leather, a slightly stronger solution (i.e.Less water) may be necessary, and a light agitation with a Nylon bristled nail or kitchen brush.

This should always be the first action in any cleaning operation. Never apply the hide food without thoroughly cleaning first as this could result in microscopic grit abrading away the protective coating. (Imagine waxing a car's paintwork without first washing it).

HIDE FOOD / CREAM

A gentle conditioning cream formulated to soften, lubricate and enhance the beauty of your freshly cleaned finished leather. It contains a liquid wax that imitates the natural oils found in leather and is impregnated with a soft smelling leather re-odorant that reproduces the wonderful smell that leather gives off when new.

Apply sparingly with a soft cloth to a small area at a time, allow to air off for a few seconds and then buff with a dry cloth.

COSMETIC DYE

This is basically hide food containing colour pigments and is available from stock in most popular colours; it can also be colour-matched to your own particular shade of leather. Used to mask small areas of damage, such as scuffs and small surface scratches, it is a valuable tool in maintaining the beauty of your leather furniture. It must be stressed, however, that it is only effective for minor damage. Larger, or more serious, areas of damage will require the services of a Leather Doctor Technician.

LIQUID LEATHER REPAIR-COLOUR MATCHED

This is a stronger dye to the cosmetic dye and is more successful in repairing more prominent scuffs and scratches etc. Apply colour with a sponge to damaged area.

SAUVAGE BARRIER CREAM

This formulation has been developed for use on non-coated leathers, often called Sauvage in the Leather Retail Trade, but are, in reality, Analine or Semi-Analine leathers. These are leathers that have no protective finish, or possibly a light wax finish, and as such will absorb atmospheric dust, clothing fibres, sweat and any liquids that are spilt on them . They are the nearest thing to a natural looking leather and have a much softer 'Handle' than finished leathers. They cannot be effectively cleaned and are designed to age in the same way as Suede and Nubuck shoes and clothing.

This ageing can be slightly retarded by the use of spray-on silicone dressing or, more effectively, the use of Sauvage barrier cream which removes surface dirt by an emulsifying action and, at the same time, conditions the leather.

Identification of this type of leather can be made by two methods. Scratching lightly with a fingernail will produce a slightly lighter shade, or application of a wet cloth will result in a darker patch that dries out to the original colour. Both of these tests should be tried out on a hidden area, either underneath the furniture or on the reverse side of a cushion.

STANDARD KIT

This kit consists of the hide cleaner, the hide food and a sponge block. It is intended for leathers that have a protective finish. This is a coating that locks in the finished colour but still allows the leather to breathe. Holding a wet cloth against the surface of this type of leather will have no appreciative visual effect and water dripped onto the surface will pool and not penetrate.

INK REMOVER

If used immediately after damage occurs, this product effectively removes most ink marks. Apply with a dry sponge or cloth and rub gently on affected area, wipe solution off with a clean cloth to remove stain. If stain is still evident, repeat the process. To finish, spray with cleaner and wipe with a damp cloth.
